Bring the whole family along for this opening day of the Carnival – great storytelling of every sort and fun for everyone.
The fabulous Signing Sensations will perform their own inimitable music interpretations through sign language.
If we’re lucky, Magi Ann might also drop in to spin a few tales and talk to us about her books and apps.
Then Krishnapriya Ramamoorthy and the team from Paallam Arts bring us Indian folk tales with real family and community values, using Bharatanatyam – storytelling which combines the spoken word, dance, hand gestures, facial expressions, mime and action.
And, finally, we’ll show that Poetry is Cool! If anybody’s going to convince our kids that poetry is cool it will be our local superstars like Evrah Rose and her chums – and maybe a surprise guest as well. This event brings them together with Carnival of Words favourite and children’s author Jude Lennon (Little Lamb Tales) to entertain our families and children (8+) with great tales about their own adventures while writing poetry. Plenty of chances for young audience members to ask questions and then the team will get them started creating their own poems. In a grand finale, the team will also be presenting prizes to the winners of the Wrexham Rotary annual Children’s Poetry Competition, which this year involved youngsters from St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School.
