New York Times bestselling author Paula Brackston talks about her latest novel (written under her pen name Mabli Roberts), telling the story of British nurse Kate Marsden who, in 1891, travelled thousands of miles across Russia to establish a hospital for outcast lepers. She endured months of hardship and dangers but, on her return, was dogged by scandal, exposed as a lesbian, and brought to the point of ruin.
