Viva Voce – with Alys Conran

Viva Voce is an acknowledged stage in Wrexham as an open mic for poets and writers who wish to read or perform their work. The night is presented by Aled Lewis Evans, and is a celebration of the spoken word in English and in Welsh. Come and join us as readers or as an audience in the relaxed atmosphere of Saith Seren.

As part of the Carnival of Words we welcome a guest reader – Alys Conran. Alys is the author of Pigeon, published by Parthian Books in 2016. She has read her work at the Hay Festival and on Radio Four. Originally from Bangor, she spent several years in Edinburgh and Barcelona before returning home to live and write. She speaks fluent Spanish and Catalan, Welsh and English. She is now a lecturer in creative writing at Bangor.

Mae Viva Voce ers sawl blwyddyn yn llwyfan meic agored ar gyfer beirdd ac awduron lleol, gyda chyfle i berfformio eu gwaith. Cyflwynir y noson gan Aled Lewis Evans, ac mae croeso i ddarllenwyr yn y Gymraeg a’r Saesneg, ac i’r gynulleidfa i awyrgylch gartrefol Saith Seren.

Fel rhan o Wyl Geiriau fe fydd gan Viva Voce westai arbennig i ddarllen ei gwaith, sef yr awdures o Fangor Alys Conran. Alys yw awdur Pigeon a’r addasiad Cymraeg Pijin Enillodd Alys wobrau efo’i rhyddiaith gyda gwobrau ym Mryste a Manceinion. Treuliodd gyfnodau yng Nghaeredin a Barcelona cyn dychwelyd i’w chynefin. Mae hi bellach yn ddarlithydd Ysgrifennu Creadigol ym Mangor.
